A NEW FAVORITE: PAUL WINSTANLEY

Well, this might not be your average Style Cavalry post, but I just can help myself. The other day I was surfing the website of COS in a research frenzy and almost literally stumbled upon an image by Paul Winstanley. It was love at first sight for a modernity junkie like me and after a peak at his website he had me hooked. Winstanley is a London based painter who has specialized in painting landscapes, deserted passages, lobbies and walkways, empty college TV lounges and anonymous interview rooms with pictorial precision – His works are generally rendered in a muted palette reminiscent of a blurred black-and-white snapshot and they acknowledge the centrality of the photographic image in contemporary life.

I am not gonna go on forever about his work, ‘cause believe me I could, instead check out his paintings  yourself and fall in love. If I get rich one day I will buy myself a little piece of this geniality. Just one… or maybe two.
